Statement of the problems:

As the world becomes ever more globalized, it is very common for movies and television programs to be released in several locations around the world. However, if the people in one area do not understand the original language of the program, it must first be translated to make it accessible to the target audience. This is most commonly done by either subtitling or dubbing the program; and different regions and cultures usually strongly prefer one method or the other. A benefit of dubbed programs is that they may stay more faithful to the medium (as movie and television generally do not feature large amounts of text); however, translation errors may accumulate during the dubbing process, and so the final product may sound unidiomatic. Also, viewers of dubbed programs are much more vulnerable to censorship (Kevin, 2018).

Gambier (2018) studied Challenges in research on audiovisual translation. He reported that Quite a number of studies on translation for TV and cinema have been published in the last ten years. But they are often limited in scope, dealing mainly with only linguistic and cultural matters, even though audiovisual is a multisemiotic blend of many different codes (images, sounds, colors,

proxemics, kinesics, narrative, etc.). He added that Two factors probably explain this paradox: on the one hand, the linguistic and literary background of most researchers; on the other hand, the constraints of (printed) publication in two dimensions.

Finding the main causes of reduction during translation and sorting this reduction causes in different groups and proposing some solutions to decrease this causes in dubbed movies in Iran.
